Established in 2001, the Dot NAME generic top-level extension is the only one supposed to be for personal sites only. These domain names can include personal or fictional names, aliases and/or other designations people are popular by. Initially, solely third-level registrations were allowed, so if you planned to order john.doe.name, you would have to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration process was loosened and 2nd-level registrations were also allowed. Already bought 3rd-level domain names remained operational.

You will be able to switch the WHOIS contact information, to park your domain, to modify Custom DNS records, etc. You can also transfer an already purchased domain to our company if you get its EPP transfer key from the current domain provider and we will renew it as soon as the transfer has been completed. There are no special requirements on who can grab a dot NAME domain, but in order to preserve the concept behind its creation alive, the Registry organization may verify who the owner is and if there is no relation between the owner and the actual domain name, the registration may be challenged.
